A Likelihood Ratio Test Against Stochastic Ordering in Several Populations

چکیده

The likelihood ratio test is often used to test hypotheses involving a stochastic ordering. Distribution theory for the likelihood ratio test has been developed only for two stochastically ordered distributions. For testing equality of distributions against a stochastic ordering in several populations, this paper derives the null asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio test statistic, which is characterized by minimization problems and has no closed form. A Monte Carlo simulation is conducted to study the limiting distribution. Since the limiting distribution depends on the speciic values of the unknown distributions under the null hypothesis, asymptotic and bootstrap approaches are proposed to overcome practical diiculties and implement tests based on the likelihood principle. Asymptotic validities for these tests are established and simulations are carried out to check their performances for nite Wright for helpful discussion and comments and Professor Frederick Williams for correction of the language. Special thanks are due to two anonymous referees, an Associate Editor and the Editor for their stimulating comments and regarding the simulation of the limiting distribution in particular. 1 sample sizes. The tests are applied to an example involving data for survival time for carcinoma of the oropharynx.

On Multivariate Likelihood Ratio Ordering among Generalized Order Statistics and their Spacings

The most of the results obtained about stochastic properties of generalized order statistics and their spacings in the literature are based on equal model parameters. In this paper, with less restrictive conditions on the model parameters, we prove some new multivariate likelihood ratio ordering results between two sub-vectors of GOS's as well as two sub-vectors of $p$-spacings based on two con...

Progressive Type II Censored Order Statistics and their Concomitants: Some Stochastic Comparisons Results

In this paper we prove some stochastic comparisons results for progressive type II censored order statistics. The problem of stochastically comparing concomitants of the two progressive type II censored order statistics with possibly different schemes, under different kinds of dependence between X and Y is considered and it is proved that if Y is stochastically increasing (decreasing) in X, ...

Some New Results on Stochastic Orderings between Generalized Order Statistics

In this paper we specify the conditions on the parameters of pairs of gOS’s under which the corresponding generalized order statistics are ordered according to usual stochastic ordering, hazard rate ordering, likelihood ratio ordering and dispersive ordering. We consider this problem in one-sample as well as two-sample problems. We show that some of the results obtained by Franco et al. ...

A unified approach to testing for and against a set of linear inequality constraints in the product multinomial setting

A problem that is frequently encountered in statistics concerns testing for equality of multiple probability vectors corresponding to independent multinomials against an alternative they are not equal. In applications where an assumption of some type of stochastic ordering is reasonable, it is desirable to test for equality against this more restrictive alternative. Similar problems have been c...

Nonparametric IRT: Scoring functions and ordinal parameter estimation of isotonic probabilistic models (ISOP)

The most popular unidimensional psychological test evaluation rule is the trivial scoring function: To the answers of each item of a test item scores of 0,1,...m points are awarded and the unweighted or simple or total sum of the item scores gives the test score (also: Likert score). This total score has desirable stochastic ordering properties like monotone likelihood ratio (MLR), stochastic o...
